“Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
Life is as precious to us as it is to an animal.
Blue Waters Dog Rescue takes this crucial tenant and applies it to both its rescues and staff members.

All About Us

Blue Water Dog Rescue is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing large dogs, with a special emphasis on misunderstood dogs like bully breeds.

Blue Water Dog Rescue is a unique rescue pairing. We connect dogs with fosters and volunteers in recovery from drugs and alcohol in partnership with sober living houses located in South Florida. This relationship between our dog and our volunteers creates a bond that allows people with addiction who have struggled to take care of themselves in the past. Having a purpose higher than the “I” builds self-esteem as our tribe learns to pay kindness forward by taking care of our dogs who need their love, patience, and discipline. In turn, our dogs, most of who come from complicated backgrounds; victims of abuse and neglect, serve a therapeutic purpose with their caretakers.

This symbiotic relationship offers an opportunity where the dog rehabilitates the foster and the foster rehabilitates the dog.

While being fostered in our care, we provide the dogs with love, safe housing, and veterinary care including spay/neutering and behavioral training while they await placement with their new family to ensure long-term success. At Blue Waters Dog Rescue our mission and purpose are to fight for the underdog. This mission is not just words but the mantra we live by daily. People in recovery know what it’s like to be the ultimate underdog and to triumph over adversity, our rescues having come from neglect and abuse can do the same.

More about OUR MISSION

Our Vision

In operation since 2015, the organization is centered on the rescue and rehabilitation of abandoned and surrendered dogs from the South Florida geographic area. South Florida in particular has seen a drastic need for further dog rescue organizations as this area has seen an unprecedented increase in the demand for animal rescues that far outweighs the area’s current capacity.

We Support Human Recovery with Dog Rescue

Sober Living by Tiffany and Blue Waters Recovery Foundation 501c3, a FARR certified sober living residence, for all of its staffing needs, in which clients that have reached certain benchmarks in their alcohol/substance abuse recovery are allowed to take on the responsibility of rehabilitating and caring for abandoned and surrendered dogs in order to create a healing environment for client and canine alike. Volunteers from Sober Living by Tiffany ensure that the dogs are properly cared for, providing walks, veterinary visits, and fundraising to try and cover the costs of food and veterinary care. Serving primarily in Broward County, this area is in dire need of animal rescue organizations given an unparalleled lack of supply in qualified rescue groups as well as consistent overcrowding and overcapacity of the current rescue facilities. It is our vision that Blue Waters Dog Rescue could provide relief for the immense number of animals that are deserted and relinquished daily if provided with the appropriate funding and resources.

How It All Comes Together

Blue Water Dog Rescue fosters and adopts out dogs who are currently homeless, with a focus on large dogs- especially bully breeds . All animals in our care are tested for common diseases, assessed behaviorally, provided with necessary medical care, vaccinated, and altered before they are adopted into permanent homes. We have several volunteers who are knowledgeable about common dog behavior issues and are available to advise all foster providers and adopters. In addition, we employ a trainer/ behavior expert, to not only make our dogs more adoptable but also to prevent our dogs from being surrendered in the future. We have relationships with trainers that we can refer people to when needed. We offer a one-time free session with a trainer to ensure that adopted dogs will acclimate well to their new families and surroundings. We want every person who encounters the organization to feel like he or she has been folded into our family, and thus we maintain relationships and open lines of communication with all of our adoptive families, receiving regular updates on our adopted dogs, and encouraging others to adopt from us when they visit our Facebook page that is regularly updated with pictures and testimonials from our adoptive families. We want to get the animals out of our care and into their permanent homes as quickly as possible so that we may save even more lives. We are committed to making the adoption process as seamless as possible.
